The Floating Market. Lots of different wares.
The fruit is superb and each boat has something special.
Lots of traffic.
They all want you to buy from them.
Our Captian was great.
Each village brings their product to sell at the market and the profit is split between the villages.
Lots of fun. They will hook your boat to pull you to their stall on the dock in hopes that they will be "lucky" to sell something. The "lucky" money received is brushed over the merchandise to continue the good fortune.
As we get ready to fly to Vietnam we are reminded of the unrest in many parts of the world and not unlike Thailand. After a week of the airport being closed in Bangkok, they are desperately trying to get things back to normal, especially with tourism. The protest has greatly effected many aspects of Thailand from tourism to retail and wholesale as shipping was even rerouted. It touches many lives and still creates tension. The King's Birthday has distracted a lot of the community for a slight moment as the entire city is decorated in "YELLOW"...the king's color. Many celebrations mark the special day as the king is very respected and loved.
