The schools of Calcutta Mercy Ministries

This school is in an area where children of the very poor attend. They are given all supplies, uniforms and a full lunch, which in many cases is their main meal.
Most were very curious to see the visitors as we wondered through the halls and visited the classes.
Some schools started at 7:30 in the morning for K to grade 3 and ended with lunch at 11:30. The older students then arrived for lunch and started classes at 1:00. Lunch was prepared at the schools by volunteers as supplies were sent by the Mercy Ministry.
Monimala School - Children of the slums attend a very small school of 60 students.
The church school start with devotions where we were asked to visit and share with the students.
2 young ladies were very anxious to come to us to speak in English and personally meet us. The students example of discipline was amazing and wondered how our Canadian kids would do in their system. I was very surprised at how advanced the curriculum was especially for the younger ones.
This wonderful couple, Dr. Sequeira Behura and her husband run a small school of 60 slum children in a suburb of Calcutta. Dr. Behura has approached the ministry to open a clinic which she will run. Seniors take note that this couple is 74 & 76 years of age and still wanting to work for Jesus!!

Calcutta Mercy Ministries

We visited Calcutta Mercy Ministries and what follows is the best description we can give you. The Ministries have impacted our lives. It is powerful and very hard to describe but we will try.

The Church: The Ministry operates a church, hospital, a secondary school, and a nursing school in the middle of Calcutta on Park St.

The Volunteers house is the brown building in the middle of the picture. It is the facility for the many people who come to volunteer their time and gifts for the many ministries.
The Sunday night youth service - Both the early morning and evening services had a huge impact on us so many people with great worship and preaching.

Medical Clinics

The ministries has medical clinics all over Calcutta and surrounding areas.
Some clinics are held in churches or schools.
Across the street from a clinic, garbage is dumped and sorted through by the people, cows, and birds. If anything is left it is taken away in a day or two.
These clinics are in the area of the poorest of poor.
On the outskirts of the city, no medical services are available for miles.
In the back streets of the city people come from all over to receive treatment.

Medical help is much needed and they come for hours for free evaluation and treatment.

After being stung in the Philippines by jelly fish, we were a little sceptical of diving with more of them.
There were millions and no stingers.
Amazing experience.
Handle with care.

The coral and the fish are amazing. Palau is known for one of the world's best diving and it will be difficult to find better. It is also the sight of last years "Survivor".....for all of you fans!!! We have never seen such gorgeous rock islands and underwater life.
